Section I: Behavioral Standards
1. Absolutely no harassment or bullying is allowed. The more detailed rules against harassment and bullying are stated HERE *student can referred to as person when reading the law*, which we all must follow if you are using this site. If any member feels bullied and/or harassed they should contact a staff member using personal messaging (PM) and not the Cbox or creating a thread. Staff will investigate further and deal with the situation. Any violation of the above rules will result in a temporary or permanent ban from this site. Judgement on harassment or bullying can also be at the discretion of the staff.
2. If you guys could keep this site to a PG-13 'rating' that would be much appreciated. This means no sexually explicit images and/or posts (here we prefer, "fades to black"), minimal foul language, minimal drug references, not getting too detailed when it comes to violence, and NO FIGHTING IN PUBLIC. This means that you are not allowed to fight with another member (characters can fight, but not their writers) in threads, boards, the Cbox, or even on this forum if you find another way. If you have a problem with another member please either send them or a staff member a personal message (PM). The staff will be allowed to remove any content and/or images that they find violates the rules without giving you notice and/or permission.
3. Absolutely no plagiarism (a more detailed definition of plagiarism can be found HERE). Plagiarism can also be determined at the discretion of the staff and will be punished by a temporary or permanent ban depending on the staff's opinion of the severity of the plagiarism.
4. Advertising is NOT ALLOWED anywhere but the Advertising Board. If an advertisement is found outside of the advertising board it will be promptly removed with or without your permission or notification and may or may not be moved to the advertising board. Please only advertise in the Advertising Board, thank you.
5. Since this is a site where we are essentially creating stories, we do not approve of texting language (for lack of a better word). This includes misspelling (we know this also happens on accident, so it will mostly be overlooked, but please try to keep it under control), wrong and/or no capitalization of proper nouns and/or words at the beginning of a sentence, improper punctuation, and especially no informal abbreviations (such as "lol", "brb", "ttyl", ect.). The only place where any of Rule #5 Section I is acceptable is in the Cbox.
Section II: Staff
1. On this site, as with any other site, the staff has control over it. The administrator is the only one with total control. The staff is in charge of making sure the site runs smoothly by keeping things up to date, notifying you when changes are going to happen, managing problems on the forum, and also they are there to role play (RP) with you guys too! We aren't evil overlords (although we could be) and we manage this site so that you guys can all have fun! Some staff have different roles than others, but you don't need to worry about that unless you want to be a staff member.
2. Please DO NOT send current staff messages (on the Cbox, in threads, on boards, or in the actual messages) about wanting to be a staff member. Once in a while (when needed) the staff will send out an application form for anyone wanting to be a staff. If you want to be part of the staff then you should fill it out as best you can and we will pick through them until we've found the ones we want. Do not take offense if you are not chosen to be part of the staff, other members have been here longer than you have and have earned the current staffs' trust as well as proven their skills as an role player. There is no given number of staff that we will pick at any given time, it is just who we think is worthy and how many we think we can manage.
3. As with anything, if you have a problem with the staff (if they are violating the rules, objections, ect.) please PM one of the staff that is not causing the problem and they will try to solve the problem as fast as they can. This does not mean they will get fired (whether that was your intentions or not), it depends on the situation at hand.
4. The rules are in effect for everyone, even the staff.
5. Staff are not paid, if you volunteer to be a staff member, do not expect actual payment. You will receive an additional amount of site money (called "Materials") once a week depending on your position. Otherwise everyone on the site earns Materials by posting and replying.
Section III: Role Playing (RPing)
1. This site (as it says in the name and url) is for role playing. You must have a character to role play with (rules and regulations on characters can be found below). This is a must and there are no exceptions.
2. Posts must be in character, one character at a time (unless you are posting in the general board). You may not, under any circumstances, post as a character that has not been accepted yet. Also, it is highly discouraged to have two of your own characters RP with one another, for that takes nearly all of the fun out of role playing.
3. Posts MUST MUST MUST adhere to the site's standards, which is one paragraph. This means that your post must be AT LEAST five complete sentences long. No exceptions. If a post shorter than one paragraph is found it will first be asked to be lengthened and if you do not do that within twenty-four (24) hours, it will be removed.
4. As stated above, no texting language. No exceptions.
5. Posting on another person's thread without their permission is strictly prohibited and will result in punishment to any of your characters. It does not matter which one you interrupt a thread with, one of the staff members will randomize which one of your characters (if you have multiple ones) gets the punishment. Report that someone has interrupted your thread by Messaging a staff member, please. The only way that thread interruption is acceptable is if a staff member has bestowed a Random Event on you and/or your group.
6. OOC (Out Of Character) notes are allowed and they have no mandatory length (as well as messages) in order to post them. However, OOC notes are not allowed to make up your thread. OOC notes should only be at the very end of one of your posts or a post notifying the readers and/or other role player(s) in your thread of something happening to your thread (such as if you were moving the thread, notification that one of your characters was removed by a staff member, ect.)
7. There is absolutely no tolerance for controlling a character that isn't yours. This means that in your posts you may not say anything that involves another character's movements or thoughts unless you have permission from the other role player or the other role player has said previously that their character has done this. This goes from anything from saying that a character dies to saying that a character makes eye contact with yours. Controlling another person's character is strictly prohibited and will result in the removing of that post or the removing of the section where you controlled another character.
8. Characters may be subjected to sieges such as zombie hordes, the airborne virus, bandits, natural disasters, ect. Your character may only die and/or be bitten if you give permission, but they will be attacked randomly. If you are in a group and more than one person volunteers to to relinquish their characters to the undead, then the number of deaths will be randomized (out of the number of volunteers) and then the characters who die will be randomized. This will only happen if your characters have been living large for an extended period of time, so as to keep you on your feet. It is the zombie apocalypse after all. With or without your permission, though, non-canon characters (characters that are not controlled by a single writer, such as a pet) will be randomized and killed. If a character is bitten, they are considered dead. The only way that we allow a character to have a severed limb from receiving a bite if it is in their history (found in biographies). But don't worry! There aren't just disasters! There are also gifts that will be randomly bestowed upon you if we see that you're going through a rough time. These can be found in the Random Events thread in the Plots board.
9. As stated above, posts should be kept to a PG-13 'rating.' This means no sexually explicit images and/or posts (here we prefer, "fades to black"), minimal foul language, minimal drug references, not getting too detailed when it comes to violence, and NO FIGHTING IN PUBLIC. This means that you are not allowed to fight with another member (characters can fight, but not their writers) in threads, boards, the Cbox, or even on this forum if you find another way. If you have a problem with another member please either send them or a staff member a personal message. The staff will be allowed to remove any content and/or images that they find violates the rules without giving you notice and/or permission.
10. Supplies cannot be obtained without a Random Event being bestowed on you and/or your group or if you purchase them in the Exchange. The staff member who bestows a Random Event on you will tell you what supplies you earned and/or lost from the Random Event. You must remove or add the items the staff member informed you to do so from/to your inventory and when the character and group maintenance check comes along you will put that on there. Once a month in the maintenance thread once you update your character's and/or group's supplies, injuries, a staff member can also remove one of your supplies and/or add another one. They also have the ability to heal injuries and sicknesses. A staff member cannot do this to their own thread.
11. Remember to BE REALISTIC when threading. As much as you want to ensure the survival of your character and let them keep all of their supplies, that can't happen all the time in reality. Now I'm not asking you to kill of your characters every week by getting rid of all of their supplies, but please be reasonable when you're threading about injuries and supply loss. You also don't have to kill zombies all of the time. Just because you're in a zombie apocalypse doesn't mean that every post you're going to have to encounter and/or kill a zombie.
Section IV: Characters
1. When creating a character, their biographies (sometimes referred to "bio" or "bios") must be posted in the Character Creation thread and adhere to the standards. This means that when writing their biographies their appearance must have at least two paragraphs (standards for paragraphs can be found above), their personality must have at least three paragraphs, and their history must be at least three paragraphs.
2. There will be absolutely no god-modding characters (other expressions could be Mary Sues, Gary Stues). This means that you have created a character that is too perfect and thus will not be accepted unless it has flaws. Because like it or not, everyone has flaws. Flaws make us interesting, and the more flaws a character has the more interesting they are! Now that doesn't mean we want you to go out and create a character made up of entirely flaws, but remember to always add some.
3. A character is classified as "accepted" once you have written their biography, posted it in the character creation thread, and a staff member has read it and then replied saying, "accepted." The staff also reserves the right to tell you that your character cannot be accepted until you have revised the problems listed by that staff member. If you are a staff member, your character may only be accepted by another staff member. Also, if you want your character accepted you must revise it as the staff asks or it will never be accepted no matter how much you push.
4. As stated above, you MAY NOT role play and/or post using a character that has not been accepted. Violation of this rule means that the character that has not been accepted yet will never be accepted and instead removed from the site.
5. You may have as many characters as you can keep active. This means that if you can keep all of your threads up to date with fifty characters, then you get to keep those fifty characters. If you have fifty characters but only thirty are active, you will be asked to either kill those characters off or make them active.
6. This site considers "active" as posting in a thread at least once a week. Real life comes first, but please try to stay active or your characters will start disappearing. If you know that you will be gone longer than one week, please tell us int the Introducing/Leaving board so that your precious characters don't start dying!
7. All characters must have a Face Claim (sometimes referred to as FC). Once your character has a Face Claim then nobody else can have that. A Face Claim is when you reserve a certain person (can be anyone, for example a celebrity, a model, ect.) to represent how your character looks. This way people have something to look at when they are role playing with you. Having a Face Claim does not mean that your characters personality and history must match the Face Claim, it simply means that your character looks like or similar to your Face Claim. All Face Claims must have a name to go with the face. If you do not have a name for your soon to be Face Claim (feel free to ask other members if they recognize this person) then you do not get the Face Claim. You may reserve Face Claims for characters that have not been accepted yet. You may role play with a character who does not have a Face Claim, as long as you have posted that your character's Face Claim in the Face Claim thread. The only way two characters are allowed to have the same person as their Face Claim is if the two characters are twins.
8. There is one major rule to Face Claims and characters other than you cannot have one that has already been claimed or reserved. This is that Face Claims of celebrities from zombie television shows and/or movies are allowed. BUT you cannot under any circumstances create a character from one of those zombie programs. For example: Andrew Lincoln could be a Face Claim, but Rick Grimes cannot be a character no matter what his Face Claim. Any violation of this rule will result the non-acceptance of your character.
9. Character may only die with your permission. Unless your character ages to one hundred (100) years old, your character does not have to die. Characters do not have to age, although if the group they are in has aging characters, then the character you have must age as well. Characters may age as fast as you want, though it is recommended that they age around three to five years per one real year.
10. Non-canon characters are characters who do not have biographies and are controlled by all the people threading since they do not have one specific writer. Non-canon characters are not allowed to have biographies (unless someone is adopting them, which makes them canon characters) and they are also not allowed to have their own posts in threads. Please try to keep non-canon characters to a minimum.
11. ANIMALS AND ZOMBIES CANNOT BE CANON CHARACTERS! Meaning that if you want to role play as a zombie, cat, dog, bird, ect. it is absolutely not allowed. As awesome as it would be, animals are not allowed to be canon characters. Feel free to make them non-canon characters though. Also, animals cannot become zombies. They can die because a zombie killed them or they caught the airborne virus, but they cannot turn into a zombie (or any name you can come up with for a zombie) after they have died. Once an animal and/or zombie is dead, they are dead. The same goes for canon characters. If they are bitten, as stated above, they are classified as dead and the only post you are allowed to make after that is their Death Post (DP). Characters may only have severed limbs from zombie bites if that has been written in the history section of their character biography.
12. Characters and their groups must be registered. A group is considered a thread consisting of four or more characters. If your group is not registered in the Character Directory board, the staff will unleash a disaster on you and your group. As stated previously, no canon characters are allowed to die without permission, but almost all, if not all, of your non-canon characters will be killed. Not to mention that a lot, if not all, of your supplies will be taken. I know this sounds cruel, but it makes life a lot easier for everyone on the site if you just register. So PLEASE register!
13. Once a month, characters and/or their groups will be asked to conduct a thing we like to call, maintenance. You can conduct maintenance in the Maintenance board.
Section V: Plots and Plotting
1. Plotting is when you plan out what will happen to your character and/or a group of them. As stated above you are not allowed to plot the demise (or anything else) of another character without their permission.
2. Your plot cannot be role played in the future. That is prohibited as well. Plots must start before the date you are reading this now. For more information on plots check out the Plot Thread.
3. Don't forget to register your group in the Character Directory board. A group is considered a thread of four or more characters. So if your plot has more than three characters involved, you need to register it.
4. Once a month, characters and/or their groups will be asked to conduct a thing we like to call, maintenance. You can conduct maintenance in the Maintenance board.
5. The Random Events are available to be applied for, but they are also randomized. You may apply for one in the Random Events board, but it is equally likely that it will be accepted or not, and you also do not get to pick the Random Event that comes for you. You can choose for it to be good or bad, but that is as far as your control goes. This way it remains "random," hence the name.
Section VI: The Cbox
1. The Cbox is the chat box that you can find at the top of the home page. This is where members can talk and "hang out" together. The Cbox is a privilege, not a gift, the conversations and/or anything else that take place on it are to remain at a PG-13 'rating.' As stated above, this means that there should be no sexually explicit images and/or posts (here we prefer, "fades to black"), minimal foul language, minimal drug references, and NO FIGHTING IN PUBLIC. Any violation of this rule will result in temporary or permanent banishment from the Cbox (at staff discretion).
2. Remember, absolutely no advertising on the Cbox. Doing so will result in temporary or permanent banishment from the Cbox (at staff discretion) or the demise of one of your character (the character in question will be up to the staff).
3. The staff reserves the right to remove the Cbox if they feel it has been abused (severely at one time and/or too often). As stated earlier, the Cbox is a privilege, not a gift, it can be taken whenever the supplier feels you don't deserve it.
THIS SITE DOES NOT HOLD RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY VIOLATION OF THE ABOVE RULES AND/OR FEDERAL AND/OR STATE AND/OR PROVINCE LAWS COMMITED BY ITS MEMBERS!
This site is based off of the hit television show The Walking Dead.
The above rules can be subject to change.

Judgement on harassment or bullying can also be at the discretion of the staff.
